Trains, Baby 2 chair.....

While Mommy headed off to spend a day of relaxation, we got back to work. We played trains and made a train story(you'll see it once I figure out how to post it) out of some of the pictures from yesterday. In between train construction and demolishion we glued the pieces to baby 2's rocking chair. Mental note: buckets are NOT good standing platforms for toddlers. Especially when they are teddering on a basement drain with standing water. Also, Dylan doesn't like to fall off the bucket onto the drain and water. Bruises and crying happen.

Whoooo, Whoooooo!!!!

Look daddy towman jammies.

Eye protection is key when using glue and powertools. As you can see the safety goggles lasted just long enough for the timer to go off.

Cheese. We're all done glueing. (before "the fall")

No Nap - Trains and Chair for Baby 2

We took a walk to the Warner Park Community and Recreation Center (WPCRC) to attend the toddler playtime and it was awesome. 15-20 tricycles, trains, balls, basketball hoops, dinasaurs, you name it they have it. Dylan just ran and ran and ran.

We arrived home for lunch and I was counting on a long nap so I could clean the house and surprise him with a new train set-up when he woke. We had lunch, read a book and laid down for a nap.

I started my cleaning duties and then headed down to complete the new train set-up. It was about an hour when I hear, "Daddy, you playing trains?". To which I respond, "shouldn't you be in bed?" Then I hear crying and come to find out he's got a loaded diaper. So, we head up to change the diaper and put him back in bed, the whole while he has a very large lip and is sniffling. "I wanta play trains with you" he says after I finished his diaper change. So, I make a 2.5 year old promise, that if he doesn't take a nap and we play trains all afternoon that he has to be a good boy during dinner. We have plained to meet Tony, Angela and Oliver for a fish fry.

Of course, he says yes and screams "me playa trains with daddy"!

By the time 3pm rolls around I'm exhausted. I figure if he's going to stay up and not take a nap, I'm going to keep him totally engaged and make him really tired. It completely backfired! I succeeded in tiring myself out along with energizing Dylan with all the fun and entertaining games(I'm giving myself alot of credit).

Dinner turned out great and Dylan was very well behaved considering not having a nap.

I let Dylan use the camera while it was set-up on a tripod. This way, I figured he wouldn't break it.

Then I hear this from behind me, "Me take a picture of Daddy's butt" says Dylan while taking this picture.

Testing the mechanical parts.

Dylan documenting the new construction.

Checking to see if the new piece fits.

"Oooooo, it looks nice daddy"

Everything's a drum. Right?

Back on the Trains

After coloring in the extremely large Tommy the Train activity book that Dylan got for Christmas, I was convinced to breakout the Tommy Trainset for a few months. And since mommy's sewing addiction has given way to a crocheting(hooks and yarn) addiction...we should be able to take over the room without much argument from management. Since facility maintence is my area, I assured her the facility would remain on the routine cleaning schedule.

It also helps that the cats are deathly afraid of the moving trains....so that eliminates any need to clean this room for at least three months at which time the new baby can eat all the cat hair he or she wants. Why? Cause it's free. Silly questions deserve silly answers.

Daddy, can I put the tree down?

Daddy, where should I put the tree?
Me - Ok, we're done.
Dylan- Daddy, where can I put the tree?
Me - put it on the ship so we can export it to another country and get back a bunch more plastic train components.

Woo, Woo

It's a Monday....Mommy and Daddy want more sleep and Dylan's in a fantastic mood. It's hard to stay grumpy with a cute little kid saying and doing funny things. He licked all the strawberry jam off of his toast and managed to get it everywhere. We took an abbreviated bath after the jam festival.

Usual - take mom to work, shop for Virchow Krause, have a snack of cheese, juice, cantaloupe and watch Sesame Street. We learned about animals! YEAH!!

Took a shorter nap than usual from 1130 to 100. Then we played basketball, watched great grandpa's hurricane hunter video (for the 1000th time), played with Dylan's train set (pictured) and did a number of reconstructions due to Mr. Clumsy knocking the pieces of track apart.

Picked up mommy and left for swimming class. Dylan did a pretty good job but I got yelled at for using a regular disposable diaper in the pool. I just thought it would be easier. ( that's what you get for trying to do something the disposable way, moron!) Mommy left to hang with her friends so Dylan and I did what we always do. Drank alot of beer!

Actually, we rode our bike/trailer home, made dinner, played on the east bluff equipment, met Amelia(really cute 13-month old) and listened to the Brewers while we went to sleep. 35 minutes including story time.
